Wusthof Outlet Sale In Norwalk Paves Way For Impending Move

NORWALK, Conn. – Wusthof Outlet store’s impending move from 333 Wilson Ave. in Norwalk to 355 Wilson Ave. is small in terms of mileage. It is big, however, in terms of space, options and improved customer service for the retail knife business.

Andrea Arnold will be holding a moving sale at her Wusthof store in Norwalk for three days beginning Thursday, March 20.

“It’s twice the size, and because we have much more room, we’ll be able to do a lot more,’’ said Andrea Arnold, manager of the outlet store for the German knife maker. “We’ll be able to do a lot more with education and offering classes. We were just so limited in what we can do. The store became busier and busier since we opened. Piling up knives can get kind of dangerous.”

Wusthof opened its Norwalk location in May 2009, and business has steadily improved. Last year, Arnold noticed the vacancy at the location a short distance away. “The move really wasn’t planned at all,’’ she said. “It was a spontaneous idea.”

Wusthof sells knives, along with professional tools, kitchen gadgets, steak knives, shears, sharpening tools, storage, accessories and manicure tools. The Norwalk location is the only Wusthof outlet store in the United States.

The store will have a moving sale March 20 to March 22. Store hours are for the sale 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The grand opening of the new store will be held Saturday, April 12. Arnold said Wusthof’s executive chef Mike will be on hand for food demonstrations and offer samples for shoppers.

“We’re excited about moving to our new store,’’ Arnold said. “We can be as creative as we want. We will have two new lines, and we’ll be able to do a lot more for our customers. We’ll be able to serve our customers so much better in our new store.”
