The celebration is designed so that artists and select nonprofits simultaneously benefit. The Arts Bloom will be held  Saturday, May 16, from 6-9 p.m. and includes both a live and silent auction, as well as wine and refreshments. There will be live music performed by pianist Justine Macurdy of the Schubert Club, and the dress code is smart casual attire. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-arts-bloom-in-weston-tickets-16353449608

All are invited to take in the local talent and purchase from the array of displayed artwork. The Arts Bloom in Weston committee is seeking works of Fairfield County professional and amateur artists in the following categories: paintings, ceramics, mixed media, textiles, collages, sculpture, glass, drawing, print making, artisan furniture and photography. Student work is also welcome. Artists will receive a minimum price requested for works sold. A portion of the total proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofits Weston’s Friends of Lachat (www.friendsoflachat.org) and The Schubert Club of Fairfield County (www.schubertclub.org).

Art should be dropped off at Emmanuel’s Church Hall Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. To arrange an alternate drop-off time, call the Emmanuel office at 203-227-8565. Artist entry fees are $25 for the first piece; $15 for subsequent works and includes admission to the event. Instructions and applications can be found at Emmanuel’s website at www.emmanuelweston.org

“Last year’s launch of The Arts Bloom was a great success. Emmanuel continues the tradition of recognizing area artists and raising funds for worthy nonprofit organizations -- the evening is an altogether win-win for the community at large,” said Chris Juneau, planning committee member and an artist herself.
