Pelham Resident Agnes Rice Silo Dies at 87

PELHAM, N.Y. - Agnes Rice Silo, a resident of Pelham for the last 27 years, died surrounded by her family on Oct. 8. She was 87 years old.

Silo was born in Kingston, N.Y. on Jul. 15, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Katherine Rice. She grew up in Yonkers among her large family and would spend summers at their Adirondack Mountain cabin in Pottersville, N.Y. Silo graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers. On Aug. 2, 1947, she married Mark Salvatore Silo of West New Rochelle.

Silo is survived by her husband Mark, her son Mark Steven Silo with wife Kathy of Loudonville, N.Y. and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Vince, Bill, Jim, Dave and Dan and her sisters Kathleen, Betty, Mary and Barbara.

Calling hours were Monday, Oct. 10 N. Cancro Inc. Funeral Home. The funeral mass is scheduled  Tuesday at St. Catharine Church in Pelham. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, Hospice of Westchester, 311 North Street Suite 204, White Plains, NY 10605, or a charity of personal choice.
