James Condito, 95, Retired From The Sanitation Department, City Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. - James “Shumps” Condito of Stamford died Wednesday, Nov. 19. He was 95.

Condito was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Stamford, to Giuseppe and Lucia Lando Condito. He was a foreman with the Sanitation Department for the City of Stamford for over 50 years, before retiring at the age of 76 in 1996.

Condito is survived by his daughters, Lucille Taylor, Colleen Condito both of Stamford and Alicia Condito- Brandfellner (Scott) of Norwalk; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Ann Catino Condito; siblings, Mary Loglisci, Vera Raino, Gracie Rainone, Joseph Condito, Albert Condito and Fannie Mancini; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Saturday, Nov. 22 at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Condito’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
