Food For All Event Will Showcase Fairfield County Restaurants

DARIEN, Conn. — The Food for All fundraiser, presented by Community Plates, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at The Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road. The organization's mission is helping people facing food insecurity throughout Fairfield County.

The event will highlight the area’s newest restaurants, showcasing their signature dishes. It also will feature craft cocktail bars run by local bartenders.

“Community Plates is already responsible for picking up and delivering almost four million meals at a value of over $6 million to food insecure people in Fairfield County,” said Kevin Mullins, the organization’s co-founder and executive director, in a press release. “We’re focused on meeting the needs of 110,000 people right here, who struggle to know where their next meal is coming from. The Food for All 2014 fundraiser is our kick-off for our next food rescue season.

“It’s a lot of fun, the food is amazing and we do a lot of good in the process.”

Featured restaurants include Azuca Bistro Latino in Stamford, The Back 40 Kitchen in Greenwich and Craft 260 in Fairfield. Featured bars include Bailey’s Backyard in Ridgefield, Match in Norwalk and Mama’s Boy Southern Table & Refuge in South Norwalk.

Preceding the event will be a VIP cocktail reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring Marcia Seldon Catering.

Tickets for the main event cost $50 each and VIP tickets cost $100 each. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.

Community Plates organizes food donors, food runners and food agencies to deliver meals to those in need. It utilizes technology such as the smartphone-enabled GoRescue application, which received the 2013 Computerworld Honors Program 21st Century Achievement Award for human services. Since being founded in 2011, it has delivered more than four million meals, according to a press release.
