Paul Staveris, 82, Fair Lawn Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Fair Lawn resident Paul Staveris died Sunday, June 5. He was 82.

Born and raised in Zakinthos, Greece, Staveris moved to the United States in 1961, settling in New York City, before moving to Fair Lawn in 1975. 

Staveris served with the Greek Army, as well as NATO, attaining the rank of sergeant. 

He was a member of Pan-Zakinthian Fellowship in New York City and the Neighborhood Cleaners Association. 

Staveris owned and operated Mr. Mort Cleaners in Fair Lawn for many years. 

Staveris is survived by his son, Anthony Staveris and his wife, Tina. He also is survived by many loving friends.

Staveris was predeceased by his wife, Assunta (DiFlauro) Staveris.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn.

A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus. 

Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
