New Canaan Police Charge Man in Champagne Theft

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A Bridgeport man accused of not delivering a six-pack of high-end champagne to Walter Stewart’s Market was arrested on a warrant by New Canaan police.

Marvin E. Owens, 44, of Benham Avenue, Bridgeport, turned himself in to police last week and was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Police said a Walter Stewart’s employee called police May 6 after checking inventory from a May 3 delivery and noticing six bottles of Moet & Chandon Imperial champagne were not included with the delivery.

Owens was ordered held on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 24 in Norwalk Superior Court.
