NEW CANAAN, Conn. A Bridgeport man accused of not delivering a six-pack of high-end champagne to Walter Stewarts Market was arrested on a warrant by New Canaan police.
Marvin E. Owens, 44, of Benham Avenue, Bridgeport, turned himself in to police last week and was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Police said a Walter Stewarts employee called police May 6 after checking inventory from a May 3 delivery and noticing six bottles of Moet & Chandon Imperial champagne were not included with the delivery.
After reviewing store surveillance video, police said they saw that Owens, a driver for Slocum and Sons in North Haven, did not bring the case in the store with other cases from his delivery and left. Police sent him a notice that there was a warrant for his arrest. The case was valued at $191.
Owens was ordered held on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 24 in Norwalk Superior Court.

Amy Vinci, 40, of Banger Road, Pound Ridge, N.Y., was charged with sixth-degree larceny last Wednesday. Police said a New Canaan woman reported Feb. 6 that her Cloud Veil womens down jacket was missing. She had placed the jacket on a coat rack outside of a gym and later noticed it was missing. After reviewing surveillance video, police said, they had reason to believe Vinci took the jacket, valued at $375, and $50 worth of childrens clothing from lost and found. Vinci was released and is scheduled to appear on Feb. 21 in Norwalk Superior court.
Alfaro Efrain Hernandez, 39, of Stillwater Avenue, Stamford, was arrested last Wednesday on a warrant and charged with second-degree failure to appear. Police said they served the warrant at Norwalk Superior Court after Hernandez was taken there after being incarcerated at the Hartford Community Corrections Center. Police said Hernandez failed to appear in court on April 13, 2009, after being charged on Jan. 8, 2009 with misuse of a car plate, operating without a license, operating without insurance and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. Hernandez was held on $5,000 bond and appeared in Norwalk Court last Wednesday.
Police were investigating the theft of a pair of packages from the Canaan Close housing complex. Police said a resident called last Wednesday to report that she never received a pair of packages that were delivered to her home. A blouse worth $74 was delivered to her home Jan. 27; a sweater worth $174 was ordered from Europe on Jan. 13.
