Out of more than 2,000 public and private high schools nationwide, Irvington was listed as the No. 237 most challenging school

Of the New York high schools that made the list, Irvington was ranked as the 17th most challenging. The school was the third-highest ranking in Westchester County, with Bronxville High School ranked as the 6th most challenging school in New York and Rye High School ranked as the 10th most challenging school in New York.

The rankings are based on each school’s index score. These scores are determined by the number of college-level tests given at a school each year and divided by the number of seniors who graduated that same year, the Post explains.

Nationwide, American Indian Public Charter in Oakland, Calif., was rated as the No. 1 most challenging school. In the state, Connecticut IB Academy in East Hartford ranked at No. 1.
