All Stamford Beaches Reopen Thursday After Sewage Scare

STAMFORD, Conn. — All Stamford beaches have been reopened Thursday morning and deemed safe for swimming, an email from the mayor’s office said.

On Wednesday, the city was forced to close Cummings and West beaches after untreated sewage was found in the water in Cummings Pond on Seaview Avenue. An odor was first reported by the state at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The email did not say what caused the sewage to go untreated. The is was being investigated by the Water Pollution Control Authority in Stamford.
