Warm Weather Brings Life to Greenwich Park

The sun was shining brightly Thursday at the Bruce Park playground, and Victor DelVecchio and Peter Santana were anxious to take advantage of the spring-like weather in Greenwich. Cindy DelVecchio, relaxing on a park bench in her sunglasses, said she wanted her children and their friends to get outside.

Her son Victor and his friend Peter timed themselves on how long they could balance on a moving tire. Their record was four minutes. "We have been [at the playground] for an hour-and-a-half," Cindy said. "This is our first time at the park this year."

Temperatures on Thursday peaked at 53 degrees, which brought life back to the playground. Parents and their children reaped the benefits of the warm weather by playing on swings and zooming down the slides. "We had nothing else to do, and it was so nice outside so we decided to go to the park," said Ariana Llanos. Brianna Llanos, playing on a seesaw, said she is tired of the snow.

The National Weather Service is forecasting even more enjoyable high temperatures through Friday, but they will drop back down into the mid-30s through the weekend.

"Friday will defiantly be outdoors stuff," said DelVecchio. "I think first, we will go skating, and then we'll have our tennis racquets ready."
