Celebrate the 4th in Westchester

Westchester residents can make the fireworks magic last, literally for days, with numerous fireworks displays and July 4th festivities on tap all across the County.

 

Here's a list of fireworks happenings in Westchester to help you ease into the holiday weekend:

 

Playland Park, Rye Fireworks displays will be held on Friday, July 1, and on Sunday and Monday, July 3 and 4. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. on all three nights.Playland Park is located on Playland Parkway in Rye, exit 19 on the I-95 North, the New York State Thruway.

Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla,Fireworks will take place as part of the Kensico Dam Music Fest on Sunday, July 3.The Music Fest begins at 6 p.m. with The Wanderers playing music through the decades. At 8 p.m., the renowned Gerard Carelli Orchestra will perform patriotic favorites, followed by fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m. The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla, and can also be reached via Route 22 north or south. 

Five Islands Park in  New Rochelle is holding its firework performance at 9:30 p.m. July 4. The spectacle can be seen from any of the waterfront areas along the City.

Port Chester:  You can catch fireworks on July 4th at Port Chester High's Ryan Stadium (ceremony at 7:30pm, fireworks after 9pm), rain date July 5th (same time, same place)

Peekskill: The Peekskill Fire Department will host music and fireworks at the Peekskill Riverfront Green Park begining at 7 p.m. July 4.

Last year Dobbs Ferry brought back the storied tradition of fireworks on the Fourth of July. This year, thanks in large part to donations from various residents and businesses, the fireworks are back again and will be held Monday, July 4. The fireworks display will be held at Waterfront Park and the show will begin shortly after sunset.  

The Town of Pound Ridge will hold its 4th of July festivities and fireworks at the Town Park on July 2. Fireworks are provided by Garden State Fireworks. Shuttle buses will take attendees to the Town Park from the Pound Ridge Elementary School and Scotts Corners. The day kicks off with a 5K Road Race that starts and ends at Town Park.

The Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club will hold a July 4th Jamboree at the John Jay Homestead, 400 Jay St., Katonah, Monday, July 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Proceeds from the event will help support the John Jay Homestead, SPCA of Westchester and local community organizations. There will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a hayride, live music, food and refreshments, colonial games and races, a doggie parade, SPCA adoption, lamb petting zoo, blacksmith and a patriotic cake decorating contest. Caramoor will host "Pops, Patriots and Fireworks," Sunday July 3.  Caramoor celebrates our country's birthday with symphonic music and fireworks. Violinist Charles Yang, featured many times on NPR's "From the Top," performs Henri Vieuxtemp's "Yankee Dooddle" Variations and other American favorites by John Philip Sousa, Scott Joplin and others. Tickets are $30, $30, $50, $60 and $70. The post-concert fireworks are for Caramoor concert ticket holders ONLY. You must have a ticket by the time the concert begins. Parking is free on-site on a first-come, first-served basis. Once parking is full, off-site parking will be available with free shuttle bus service. RIDGEFIELD HIGH SCHOOL, 700 North Salem Road, Ridgefield, CT  Will be hosting its annual fireworks show Saturday July 3 at 6 p.m.  Gates open at 6 p.m., Fireworks at Dusk. (Rain Date: Sunday, July 3) Parking Pass: $15 at Fairfield County Bank (3 Governor Street, 150 Danbury Road, 374 Main Street) Ridgefield Town Hall (400 Main Street), Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce (9 Bailey Avenue) Parking at Ridgefield High School and Barlow Mountain School (shuttle bus)Note: No admittance without parking pass.
