Bench Honoring Late Larchmont Baby Stolen

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- T.J. Smith wants to know the whereabouts of his sister Delaney's bench, which the Junior League of Westchester dedicated to his family after she died suddenly in 2009.

The $1,000 bench, which sat in front of the Golden Shoestring, was stolen over the weekend, said T.J.'s mom Tiffany.

"Someone said to me, 'We can replace the bench,'" Tiffany said. "To me, it's kind of like her, it's irreplaceable. No one will ever replace Delaney."

The Larchmont resident isn't concerned with money or punishing those responsible.

"I don't care who took it," she said. "I won't ask questions, we just want the bench back."

The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound bought the bench and dedicated it to the Smith family. They held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last October, which league members, board members and friends attended.

Delaney was two months old when she passed. She would have turned two in three weeks’ time.
