Leone and Duff welcomed to the State Capitol representatives of Next Health Inc., a Norwalk medical device company that help more patients to stay in their homes and lower their health care costs, according to a press release.
The company’s new integrated hospital bed and wheelchair/commode system was put on display at the State Capitol for health policy experts and other visitors to view. The device automatically boosts a patient into bed or gently lowers them into a wheelchair or commode at the push of a button, according to the release.
“It is great to see a Connecticut based company, with investors from Stamford, leading the way on innovations that will help to keep more patients independent and in their homes. I think this product will be particularly valuable to disabled members of the veteran community, for which I am particularly grateful,” said Leone.
“Norwalk can be proud to have a company like Next Health based in our community, which is working to improve quality of life for disabled people everywhere. Their very clever combination wheelchair and bed is a testament to the ingenuity of Connecticut’s workforce, and a great example of the kind of business activity we should foster in the years ahead. I met with the company years ago, and it has been very exciting to watch their business grow and expand,” said Duff.
Next Health is working with the state’s Money Follows the Person program, which is dedicated to assuring Connecticut residents access to a full range of high quality, long-term care options that maximize autonomy, choice and dignity, according to the release.
