Election Profile: Mayor J. Michael Cindrich

Mount Kisco, NY--As the month of October slowly slips away, town elections come nearer, with November 8th set as the main event for the general election. While some Westchester towns have heated mayoral races, contests for town board or supervisors, Mount Kisco's races will be run with just one name on the ballot.

Mayor J. Michael Cindrich has been at the head of the Mount Kisco government for the last eight years, and has seen an abundance of change underneath his watch. From the development of the new Mount Kisco Public Library, to the upgrading of local fields and inclusions of playgrounds, Cindrich has been involved with many modifications to the village.

The main challenge he's face is the one many local governments have been experiencing over the last three years, which is how to manage funds during a time of such fiscal downturn. But even with the tough economy, Cindrich was satisfied with the tax rates produced.

"The tax rate increases over the past four years average less than of 2.3%. While increases in Federal and State mandated programs far exceed these increases," he explained, "reductions in Village expenses without reducing services and alternative revenue sources have absorbed much of those increases."

Cindrich knows the current economic situation isn't the most promising, but he is confident that he can continue to work toward guiding the village to a better future."Obviously the economy has posed many new challenges and slowed progress on many new projects," he said. "But I believe I have the strength and experience to weather the economic storm as I continue to build a better community."
