Stack Will Direct Skating at New Stamford Rink

STAMFORD, Conn. — Chelsea Piers Connecticut has named Matt Stack the club’s director of rinks. For the past seven years, Stack worked for BlueStreak Sports Training in Stamford, where he was one of the four original partners and facility general manager.  

Prior to BlueStreak, Stack played professional hockey in the United Hockey League for the Adirondack Ice Hawks. He now coaches high school hockey and scouts for the United States Hockey League.

At Stamford's Chelsea Piers Connecticut, Stack will hire coaches and instructors and develop hockey and figure skating programs. 

Programs will include a learn to skate, freestyle figure skating, ice shows and skating camps. There also will be beginner to advanced instruction for hockey, including private lessons.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut will have two NHL-sized rinks, locker rooms, off-ice training facilities and bleachers.

Stack has coached 11 NHL draft picks, 94 Divison I college athletes, 17 professional players, two United States Olympians and more than 250 prep school players. Stack coaches the U16 Boys Mid Fairfield Blues and U16 Girls Mid-Fairfield Stars and is the assistant coach of the Rye Country Day Girls Varsity hockey program.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut is a 400,00-square-foot sports and recreation facility that is scheduled to open in June.
