What's Happening in Peekskill This Memorial Day Weekend

Friday, May 25

  • Memorial Day Carnival at Riverfront Green: The carnival will run through Monday evening in the park. There are rides, games and food vendors. Click here for more information.
  • Glen Campbell at The Paramount:  8 p.m. Country music legend Glen Campbell is on his farewell tour after decades worth of albums and performances. Tickets range from $40-60.
  • Vanessa Raci at Division Street Grill:  8 to 11 p.m. The vocalist will be performing a free set for patrons.
  • Chris Talio Trio at BeanRunner Cafe: 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The jazz trio has performed at major New York venues including jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, the 55 Bar and Smalls. Admission is $7.
  • Fred Gillen Jr. at Peekskill Coffee House: 8 p.m. The local folk artist will perform a free set for patrons.
  • Michael Bram and the Alternators at 12 Grapes: 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Bram was the drummer and musical director for singer/songwriter Jason Mraz and has recorded with Willie Nelson, toured/recorded with Dave Gross, Gina Sicilia and blues harp ace Dennis Gruenling. Admission is a $5 entertainment fee for all, including diners.
  • Phineas and the Lonely Leaves at Birdsall House: 10 p.m. The local favorites will perform a free set for patrons.

Saturday, May 26

  • “Last Day On Earth” at The Paramount: 7:30 p.m. The film, starring Willem Dafoe, Shanyn Leigh and Natasha Lyonne, follows a couple dealing with the sudden end of the world. The film is not rated. Tickets are $9 for the general public.
  • Shanna Sharp at Birdsall House: 3 to 6 p.m. The artist will perform a free set for patrons in the outdoor beer garden.
  • Deena Goidel at Division Street Grill: 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The vocalist will be performing a free set for patrons.
  • Victor Martinez at Peekskill Coffee House: 8 p.m. The local rocker will be performing a free set for patrons.
  • Richie Goods and Nuclear Fusion at BeanRunner Cafe: 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Nuclear Fusion features the legendary Mike Clark on drums, Tom Guarna on guitar, Danny Grissett on keyboards and of course Richie Goods on bass. It's jazz/fusion with a dose of funk. Admission is $10.
  • Pocket Change at 12 Grapes: 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.  The band will be performing danceable funk and R&B, with a little rock/jazz thrown in for good measure. Admission is a $10 entertainment fee or $5 with a dinner entree.

Sunday, May 27

  • The Queen of Spades at The Paramount: 1 p.m. A true masterpiece of expressionist Russian drama. The lush, romantic music, combined with the lurid tale of one man’s obsession with gambling (and a particular woman) make this opera unforgettable. Filmed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain. Running time is 181 minutes plus an intermission. Tickets are $20 for general admission.
  • Tristen Napoli Trio at Peekskill Coffee House: 1 p.m. The jazz group will be performing a free set for patrons.
  • Steve Lewis at the Beanrunner Cafe: 4 to 6 p.m. While straddling the rock, funk, and folk worlds, Steve's many influences converge in a way that is unique and endearing, with flashes of Beck, T. Rex, Pixies, and Tom Waits. Admission is free for patrons.
  • Kids' Open Mic Night at 12 Grapes: 6 to 8 p.m. Performers 17 and under can bring their guitar, bass, sax, flute or whatever instrument they play, and a drum kit, keyboard, guitar & bass amps and microphones are provided. Sign-up begins at 5:30 p.m. Kids under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday, May 28

  • Peekskill Memorial Day Ceremony: 10 a.m. The annual event will take place in Monument Park and will feature area musicians, Veteran's groups and elected officials. Click here for more information.
