Reid makes sure he always listens to his coach and on Wednesday, the senior carried out Visconti’s words.

Using his height advantage, Reid scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as No. 5 Tuckahoe defeated No. 4 Keio, 62-44 in a Section 1 Class C Boys Basketball quarterfinal.

The defending champions return to the Westchester County Center for the final four. Tuckahoe will play the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls-Children’s Village winner Monday at either 6:30 p.m. or 8:15 p.m.

“When coach tells me to play big, I want to do it, play at my pace and don’t let anyone on the court change my game,” said Reid, who is considering Cortland, Siena and a few other colleges.

Reid said that Visconti chose to run plays based on his height advantage. Reid opened the first quarter scoring six of the team’s eight points.

“Coach said my height advantage would be a major part of the game for us,” Reid said. “That got me into the game immediately and it forced me to be more focused.”

Reid was tenacious on both ends of the floor, taking the ball strong to the basket when he received a pass on the low block while not allowing Keio any penetration to the basket.

It has been a break-out year for Reid, who knew coming into the season that he was going to play a major role in the team’s success.

“I learned a lot from the seniors last year,” Reid said. “Coming back this year I wanted to do anything I could to help this team get back to the County Center and win it.”

The first step toward achieving that goal is complete with a return trip to the County Center. Reid smiled when talking about the County Center.

“It feels great to be going back because it’s like a second home,” said Reid with a huge smile.

Maurice Hollis added 15 point, including eight in the second quarter to transform a one-point Tuckahoe lead to double digits. Nick Reisman finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Fumiaki Kobayashi paced Keio with 16 points and Harayoshi Karube had 12.
