The seminar will be informative for first-time buyers or their parents, who may find it helpful to learn what’s new in the home-buying and mortgage market. Rising rental rates and an improving job market are signs the economy is improving, which means it’s a great time to look into buying a home.

The seminar will feature two guest speakers, Lisa Ashkenas, senior loan officer with NJ Lenders Corp., and Vanda Ondrus, an associate with Keller Williams City Life Realty. They will provide a thorough guide that will educate interested consumers currently renting on how they can plan to transition to home ownership. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the home-buying process, as well as the many mortgage products that are available.

Ashkenas will discuss topics such as down payment requirements, the different programs available to home buyers, the difference between an adjustable-rate and fixed-rate mortgage and the advantages of buying a home versus renting. She also will be able to answer any questions attendees may have regarding the mortgage process.

Ondrus will instruct attendees on the benefits and advantages of working with a Realtor during the home-buying process.

“Our commitment to helping home buyers find the right house or condo for their needs extends to helping them understand how financing fits into their home ownership puzzle,” she said. “Our goal with this seminar is to give first-time home buyers the information they need to enter the real estate market with greater awareness.”

Seating is limited and advance registration is requested by calling the Cliffside Park Chamber of Commerce at (201) 335-0088.

There is no cost to attend and light refreshments will be served.
