Members of the Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team were driving on South Main Street when they passed by the men, who were standing in a parking lot, police said. One of the men was Kevin Crosley, 33, police said.

When the officers pulled into the lot, the men walked to the back of a building. The area behind the building was clearly marked with a no trespassing sign, police said.

Police detained two out of the three men they had observed in the parking lot, including Crosley, police said.

Crosley consented to a search, police said, and officers found a small bag of a leafy green substance believed to be marijuana in his possession, police said.

Police also found seven folds of heroin where Crosley had been standing. Officers said neither of the two men had been standing in that spot before, police said.

Officers said Crosley also had rice in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Crosley was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution, sale or prescription; possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis-type substance; possession of narcotics; and sale, possession within distance of a school, police said.

Crosley’s bond was set at $5,000 with a court date of March 28. He was previously charged with narcotics-related offenses in Norwalk in 2014, police said.
