Long Island Woman Charged For Hit-Run Crash That Seriously Injured 11-Year-Old

A woman has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured an 11-year-old  on Long Island.

The boy was riding his scooter in Massapequa at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2 on Eastgate Road when he was struck by a woman driving an older model two-door red pickup truck, according to Nassau County Police.

Police said that the driver then fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Eastgate Road.

The boy suffered multiple serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said. He is listed in stable condition.

On Wednesday morning, Aug. 5, Nassau County Police announced that 33-year-old  Laura Nucatola, of East Meadow, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident with a serious injury. 

She is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
