Thorrold, a senior scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, will present the lecture “Sharks and Rays of the North Atlantic: Jaws or National Treasure?” While many sharks and rays are endangered, a lack of knowledge about these large species has hindered conservation efforts, according to a release from the Bruce Museum.

Thorrold will discuss how scientists are learning more about sharks and rays through the use of satellite-based electronic tagging efforts.

The free talk is the second of two being held in conjunction with the museum's current exhibition, "The Lure of the Ocean: The Art of Stanley Meltzoff." It talks place at 2 p.m. at the Bruce Museum, One Museum Drive, Greenwich. For reservations, call 203-869-0376 or email lecture date, your name and number of guests to info@brucemuseum.org.
