Robert William O’Donnell, 82, Retired Inspector For The City Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Robert William O'Donnell, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Nov. 22. He was 82.

O’Donnell was born Dec. 7, 1932, to William and Agnes (nee Gray) O'Donnell. He was a graduate of Gorton High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Fordham University and Master's Degree from Pace University. He served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict and was discharged Dec. 31, 1960.

He was employed of over 25 years at Refined Syrups and Sugars in Yonkers as an accountant. Following retirement he was then employed for 13 years by the City of Yonkers as an inspector in the Building Department. He was a long time member and past president of the Male Glee Club of Yonkers and sang in the Sacred Heart Christmas Concerts. He was a long term member and past president of the Amackassin Club.

O’Donnell is survived by his wife, Laureen (Laurie) O'Donnell (nee Lawson); nieces, Dianne Rider (Thomas), Lorraine Pellegrino; and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Eileen O'Donnell Scrodin; and brother-in-law, Rudolph Scrodin.

Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery Yonkers.
