Christmas Day is traditionally the busiest moviegoing day of the year and this year was no different at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers and the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville.

Cristina Cacioppo of the Alamo Drafthouse said she was excited for the Alamo's first Christmas in Westchester. The Alamo opened in August.

"I'm eager to see what kind of crowds come out," Cacioppo said.

Alamo opened "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," "Wolf of Wall Street" and "47 Ronin" on Christmas.

"Mitty is the most family-friendly of the bunch, so my guess is that may be the big one for the day," Cacioppo said.

Alamo has been getting into the Christmas spirit all month, with a Home Alone pizza party and an "Elf" quote-along.

The Jacob Burns was showing Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska and Philomena, along with a special afternoon screening of The Nutcracker. To get into the holiday spirit, the Burns was showing It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story.

"Christmas is certainly one of our busiest days," spokeswoman Abby Propper said.
