White Plains Halted by Scarsdale's Second-Half Run

SCARSDALE, N.Y. — The Scarsdale varsity girls’ lacrosse team was looking to build on the momentum it had gained from its previous game, a big win over Bronxville. The Raiders had added motivation, because they were playing league rival White Plains.

After six minutes, Scarsdale established control and would not relent. Lindsay Repp rang up five goals and four assists, and Liz Felix finished with four goals and four assists as Scarsdale defeated visiting White Plains, 17-7, on Saturday.?

Scarsdale improved to 5-4 in the season. The Raiders will play Edgemont on Tuesday for Scarsdale bragging rights.

The Raiders have a rematch with Mamaroneck on Saturday. Mamaroneck defeated Scarsdale in their previous meeting.?

Scarsdale scored three goals in the first six minutes and 35 seconds, as Felix had two on eight-meter shots and Dannah Strauss attacked the net.?

“The Bronxville win was enormous and we were all still excited by it,” Felix said. “All of the seniors picked up everyone’s spirits for this game and the underclassmen stepped it up today.”?

In settled situations, Scarsdale was at its best, executing a motion offense with cutters to goal. As a result, the Raiders registered 11 assists, many of them coming on a pass to a teammate angling toward the goal or circling from behind the net.?

“We feel we do that good and we’ve done it in a lot of our games,” Felix said. “We are always looking to pass to our teammates and make smart decisions. That shows that we are an unselfish team.”?

The patience and motion on offense was something Felix and her teammates felt they didn’t do in their loss to Mamaroneck.?

“I think when we were on attack, we did not calm down,” said Felix, who will attend SUNY Geneseo and play lacrosse next year. “We were rushing things and we were overanxious.”?

Leading 7-3 at halftime, Scarsdale opened with the first consecutive goals and seven of the first eight.?Kate Leone led White Plains (4-5-1) with three goals and Lauren Sharpe netted two.
