The sessions will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. for three Tuesday nights plus three Sunday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. starting Nov. 2. This six-week course is for 8th – 12th graders.
Public speaking activities help teenagers build self-confidence. The skills of speaking clearly, professionally, and with respect for self and others can resonate across every avenue of their world for years to come.
Benefits include the power of winning and keeping the audience's attention; the importance of clarity in word choice; telling the story in sequential order; and technical tricks for using eye contact. Body language and using technology to aid rather than distract the audience are also part of the curriculum
The workshop will be taught by Stephen Stout, a veteran of the professional stage as both actor and director and currently in his 13th year as director of theater programs at Greens Farms Academy in Westport. He teaches grades 8-12 with a full curriculum of theater studies and directs all the upper school productions.
He is the former artistic director of Passage Theatre in New Jersey and founding artistic director of Fairfield Theatre Company, he has acted on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in many regional theater across the country, including are among his credits are some roles on television and in film and commercials.
