Mary Ann Brown, Longtime Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. — Mary Ann Brown, a 70-year resident of Greenwich, died Oct. 17 at Nathaniel Witherell nursing home. She was 96.

Brown was born in New York City on June 1, 1915, to the late Gertrdue and Patrick Flaherty. She married the late Frederick John Brown and moved to Greenwich in 1941.

Brown worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at the Foundry in Byram, for Morford Downes Contractors and for the Greenwich Police Department, where she worked under three chiefs of police in the Records and Payroll Division.

Brown is survived by son Robert, of Greenwich, and his wife, Mary Louise; three grandchildren; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Dooley, of Greenwich, in 2005.

Brown wished for immediate services to remain private. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwich Adult Day Care, 125 River Road Extension, Cos Cob, C.T. 06807.
