Bedford Hills Resident Arrested On DWI Charge

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- New York State Police arrested a Bedford Hills woman in Putnam County on Monday on a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said.

Verna L. Melahn, 57, was arrested during an accident investigation on Route 22 in the town of Southeast, State Police said.

Melahn submitted to a breath test, which yielded a blood alcohol content of .21 percent, more than twice the legal limit, and was ordered to appear in Town of Southeast Justice Court on Thursday, according to State Police.
