Weston Sets Off Its Fourth Of July Fireworks Thursday

WESTON, Conn. – Weston’s Family Fourth Celebration and fireworks display will take place at Weston Middle School on Thursday evening.

Gates for the main show will open at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Admission is $5 per person for ages 5 and up and free for kids under 5. A limited amount of premium parking will be available for $20 per car, but parking passes must be purchased at the Parks and Recreation office in advance.

Through the afternoon, the middle school will host a barbecue tent on the celebration grounds, with a wide range of food for sale.

The show starts at about 6:15 p.m. with performances from the Westport Community Band, the Magic Genie and the Straight No Chasers Band. The Straight No Chasers Band will also perform a special post-show after the fireworks display.

The fireworks show will start after dark, at approximately 9:20 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. No seating will be allowed on the school’s turf field as a safety precaution.

Weston Police suggest arriving before 8 p.m. to avoid congestion. Cars will not be allowed to enter the campus from Lords Highway after 7 p.m. After then the only entry points will be on School Road and Route 57.

Earlier in the day the Parks and Recreation Department and Tri Fitness will hold a mini-triathalon for both kids and inexperienced adults, starting from the middle school campus. Those interested can register in advance online.

If there is inclement weather Thursday, the fireworks show and barbecue will be postponed to Friday. Check the town website to see if there are any scheduling changes Thursday.
