As part of the “Westport Paints the Town” event, professional artists from the Westport Artists Collective will lead the public in an effort to beautify the fence surrounding the Bedford Square Development project in downtown Westport.

During the event, Church Lane will be closed to vehicle traffic.

The construction fence, which is scheduled to remain around the property for approximately two years, will be enhanced by both the creativity of professional artists and the public.

In addition to watching professional artists paint depictions of Westport landmarks such as the Westport Minuteman, attendees can choose to have their silhouette outlined on the wall by artists, and can then paint their individual “selfie,” or even their entire family’s “selfies,” with provided paint supplies. Participants are encouraged to express their creativity and originality.

A $10 per person fee will be assessed to participate in the painting with all proceeds going toward artist and supply costs. Tables and chairs will be set up on Church Lane, with restaurants including The SoNo Baking Company & Cafe, Spotted Horse Tavern and Pink Sumo taking orders curbside.  A DJ will also be on site to help to add some music for a festive atmosphere.
