All three incumbent legislators, state Sen. Toni Boucher, R-26th District, state Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, D-136th District, and state Rep. Gail Lavielle, R-143rd District will be in attendance and will be joined by newly elected state Sen. Tony Hwang, R-28th District, to discuss where they think the state will be going during the next legislative session.

The event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Westport Public Library at 20 Jesup Road. The open forum will be moderated by Matthew Mandell executive director of the WWCC.

“I’m pleased that all of our elected officials are coming to share their thoughts and vision,” said Mandell. “This is a great opportunity for our business people and residents alike to come ask questions and see how they will be represented.”

Bonnie Stewart, CBIA’s vice president, government affairs & general counsel, said: “CBIA, along with 70 other business groups, support the CT20x17 campaign because making the state a top 20 state by 2017 would not only improve the economy and create jobs, but sustain our great quality of life and create a better future for everyone.

“Legislators need to hear from their constituents,” she continued, “and it is through meetings, such as this one with the Westport Chamber, that meaningful conversations on the importance of CT20x17 can happen between lawmakers and the business community. We encourage legislators to take these conversations back to the Capitol and use it to create strong public policy aimed at improving Connecticut’s economic competitiveness.”

This is the second of a series of events to keep the local and business community informed about issues affecting them at both the state and regional level. This forum is also a follow up to the state representative debate that the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce hosted last month before the election.

Residents, business people and all members of the chamber are invited to come and participate by asking questions during this open forum. There will be coffee and baked goods at this free morning event.
