The Norwalk Harbor offers the densest waterfront restaurant population; in fact all of historic South Norwalk’s is accessible through a transient slip at Veteran’s Park in East Norwalk. Guests from out of town are able to tie-up and visit the shops and restaurants lining Washington Street. It is not uncommon for vessels from Long Island, Rhode Island and beyond to temporarily take port at these overnight slips.
The corner of Seaview Avenue and First Street in East Norwalk offers maritime visitors the opportunity to experience some of Norwalk’s most famous eateries within a few blocks off the water. Fresh seafood is the name of the game at Overton’s which has been a summertime staple for more than 75 years. Next door is the New York Times rated Harbor Lights, which combines upscale dining with beautiful westward harbor vistas. Further up First Street are Dino’s Pizza and Cove Deli. Both are great options for boaters looking for a quick bite or to bring a meal onboard.
Regardless of where you chose to eat, no trip to this corner of East Norwalk would be complete without enjoying a cone at Mr. Frosty’s Ice Cream Shop.
Located at the mouth of the harbor is Norwalk’s own take on a Key West classic, Sunset Grille. The outdoor decks allow patrons to soak up the sun by day and enjoy one of the region’s best sunsets. Live music, delicious seafood and a tropical vibe all make it easy to spend an afternoon or evening outside.
If a vacation to the islands is not in the plans for the weekend, be sure to visit one of Norwalk’s dynamite waterfront eateries and you’ll be a palm tree away from paradise.
