A room filled with 3- and 4-year-olds laughed while saying "Nooo" when Keri Beckwith-English asked them, "Is an author somebody who eats books for breakfast?"
English, a writer from Easton, told the story of her 13-year-old dog named Zoebe at the Easton Public Library on Tuesday. She wrote "Zo's Debut," her third children's book, about a dog who tries to please his owners by trying new things, such as being a ballet dancer. In the end, it's just great that Zo is who he is a dog.
English began writing just for her two kids, Tate and Luke, more than a year ago. "I never planned on publishing," said English, whose other books include "More than Chocolate" and "Sticks and Stones and Dinosaur Bones." She illustrates her books using the computer and photographs. English worked as a graphic designer for more than 10 years and started her own children's clothing line before starting her family.
The kids answered and asked questions while English was reading. They laughed and walked about the room. After the story was over, the kids wandered over to the craft table to glue white cotton balls to a drawing of Zo for an arts and crafts project.
