Nonprofits can register at FCGives.org until Feb. 13.

Initiated last year by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Giving Day allows individuals, families, clubs and companies to donate to Fairfield County nonprofits online during the course of 24 hours.

On Jan. 14, the Community Foundation is offering nonprofits a free, two-hour information session at the Stepping Stones Children’s Museum in Norwalk. The meeting will cover how Giving Day works, the cash-prize categories, best practices in promotion, and the Community Foundation’s promotional activities. Click here to register.

Online donors numbering 9,211 gave more than $620,000 to 267 Fairfield County nonprofits in one day last year.

An additional $127,500 in cash prizes funded by the Community Foundation and lead sponsor Bank of America as well as other corporate and community sponsors was awarded to more than 50 nonprofits.

In total, the 2014 Fairfield County Giving Day raised $750,000. The goal for the 2015 Giving Day is to raise $1 million.

“The inaugural Fairfield County Giving Day not only demonstrated the generosity of thousands of local residents, it also cultivated a new generation of donors,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president of Bank of America. “In 2015, we hope to exceed the high bar that has been set, and further support our local nonprofits and the vital services they provide to our community.”
