The opening will feature a lecture by Christopher Wigren, deputy director of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. He will speak at 2:30 p.m. on Connecticut architecture, and a reception to will follow.
The exhibit will introduce visitors to the various architectural styles of residences found in Weston across four centuries, the people who created them, as well as some of the celebrities who have called Weston their home.
A display by Weston High School students of original architectural designs, antique tools and building materials used in the construction of Weston homes also will be featured. The exhibit will run through July 16.
On Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at the Weston Library, the society continues its spring program on the Landmark Homes of Weston with the documentary “Regular or Super: Views on Mies van der Rohe.”
This documentary connects Weston with internationally renowned Mies van der Rohe, who designed some of America’s iconic buildings and one exceptional home that will be included on a house tour set for May 3.
A May 3 house tour will offer a glimpse of 400 years of Weston history. Seven unique homes, spanning the Colonial period through the 21st century, will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. The tour starts at Cobb’s Mill Inn, where tickets, maps and programs will be available. A perfect way to start the tour is with a delicious champagne brunch, which will be served at Cobb’s Mill Inn from 11:30 a.m. for $20.
House tour tickets are $75 and $65 for members and include admission to all seven homes and to the reception after the tour with co-chairs Jose and Susan Feliciano from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Coley Homestead.
