The Prospector Theater provides educational and employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities through the operation of a four-screen cinema.
The founder of the Prospector Theater, Valerie Jensen, is a resident of Ridgefield and has been interested in improving the quality of lives of people with disabilities her entire life. Val's sister, Hope, was born in 1979 with Down syndrome.
Jensen gave a tour of the theater to Harry Smith earlier this month, and also discussed the theater's operation. The nonprofit theater opened last November.
The Prospector boasts four movie screens, hosts birthday parties and other events, and is home to The Star Bar and the Heads Up Cafe.
The theater is located at 25 Prospect St. near the Ridgefield Library.
