Campers and staff will once again be able to enjoy their scenic camp property, located just across Poplar Plains Brook from the Y’s new Bedford Family Center at 14 Allen Raymond Lane in Westport.

Children entering grades 1 through 7 (plus older campers in the LIT/CIT programs) will be celebrating the start of each camp day at our rustic LOGS amphitheater -- where "Lots Of Good Stuff" happens, followed by these classic Mahackeno activities: canoeing on Lees Pond; swimming in the large outdoor pool; playing sports and games on our playing fields and ball courts; speeding along the 100-foot zipline; zeroing in on the bull’s-eye at the archery range; arts and crafts; and traditional camp nature activities and exploring the woods and trails of Mahackeno’s beautiful surroundings.

“We’re just thrilled to be back home at Mahackeno, where our Y has been holding summer camp since 1945,” said Meg George, Camp & Family Services Director. “This summer promises to be better than ever. Not only do we now have a beautiful new Y right next door, we’re making significant renovations to the camp facility itself, including the construction of two new open-air pavilions, expanded playing fields and upgrades to Beck’s Lodge."

“We’ve even installed a pool heater – repurposed from our old Y downtown – so kids can jump right in as summer camp begins.”

Camp Mahackeno is scheduled in two-week sessions starting Monday, June 22, and ending Aug 14. It will also be continuing the tradition of ending the camp season with a Special Events Week, starting Aug. 17. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the option of extended care starting at 7:30 a.m. and running until 6 p.m.

For more information about Camp Mahackeno and how to register, contact Meg George, at mgeorge@westporty.org or call the Y at 203-226-8981, ext. 119.
