The Department of Public Health has issued the 21-day quarantine orders for the people, who are not sick and do not pose a risk to public health, department spokesman William Gerrish told The Courant. The department will monitor their health during the quarantine.

The nine people all reportedly traveled in West Africa recently.

Guidelines issued last week by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said that those who have returned to Connecticut from West Africa and are sick "will be sent to a hospital" for isolation and treatment. For those returning travelers who aren't sick, "you will be required to stay at home for 21 days and take your temperature twice a day."
