FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Some lubricating eye drops sold at Wal-Mart, CVS and Target have been recalled, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection warns state and Fairfield County residents.
Mold was found in some 30-millimeter bottles of the eye solutions, according to the department. The recall includes the following eye drops made by Altaire Pharmaceuticals Inc.:
- equate Restore Tears Lubricant Eye Drops, distributed at Wal-Mart
- Lubricant Eye Drops for Mild to Moderate Dry Eye - Sterile, distributed at CVS
- lubricant eye drops for mild to moderate dry eye – Sterile, distributed at Target
Altaire Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling a total of nine lots of its Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium 0.5 percent Ophthalmic Solution due to possible problems with the preservative, which creates a potential risk for eye infection, the department said.
No problems have been reported by consumers so far, the department said.
