DANBURY, Conn. — The baristas in Starbucks at Danbury Fair Mall were teary-eyed and kept stopping to hug one another Saturday morning as the line of Christmas shoppers waiting for coffee grew longer.

Finally, a barista came from behind the counter and silently put up a note to explain their distraction — a woman who worked at the Starbucks on Mill Plain Road nearby was substitute teaching at Sandy Hook Elementary Friday. The woman died in the shooting.

The Starbucks on Mill Plain Road was closed Saturday, with a similar sign on its door that read: "We are closed. We apologize at this time. We are giving our partners time with their family due to personal loss from the incident in Newtown."

The Danbury Daily Voice is trying to confirm the woman's name.

Dear Danbury Voice - we don't need to know the woman's name. A little privacy and respect for the families would be greatly appreciated.
