Easton residents will vote to either approve or turn down a $41.2 million town budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The town’s voters did not make any changes to the budget proposed by the Board of Finance at the Annual Town Budget Meeting last Monday, leaving a 1.3 percent increase in spending unchanged.
The spending up for a vote Tuesday includes approximately $25.5 million in funding for Easton Public Schools and Joel Barlow High School, and another $15.7 million for other town programs. The full proposed budget is available on the town website for review.
Easton’s polls are open at Samuel Staples Elementary School from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Board of Finance is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., and if the budget referendum passes the board will also set Easton’s tax rate for the upcoming year.
Redding’s proposed spending for the 2013-2014 is more than $47.5 million, an increase of about 1.3 percent. Voters did not make any changes to the Board of Finance’s approved budget proposal at the Annual Town Budget Meeting in April.
The proposed budget includes approximately $34 million for education spending, and $13.7 million for other town programs. The full budget is available online at the town website here.
Redding’s polls are open at the Redding Community Center from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Board of Finance will meet immediately after the vote to set the mill rate, which will be used to calculate Redding’s tax bills this July.
