The event, which was held Desanti Plaza across from the Hartsdale Train Station, featured remarks from Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, Town Clerk Judith Beville, Town Councilman Ken Jones, New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Vietnam War veteran Salvatore Monastra.
"I always get a little choked up when I talk about the men and how we can honor them," said Monastra, who was instrumental in getting the town to fly the MIA-POW (Missing in Action-Prisoner of War) flag on ton flag poles. "We owe those who served a great deal. And we have to keep that flag flying to remember."
Local Boy Scout and Girl Scouts stood behind the honored veterans who were seated in front rows for the ceremonies. A detail of Greenburgh Police officers gave a rifle salute as Hartsdale firefighters and police joined the ceremony.
