HARRISON, N.Y. A man from Danbury, Conn., faces two felony charges after police found heroin on him, police said.
The motor vehicle of Alvaro Matias, 21, was pulled over at 1 Manhattanville Road at the I-684 onramp on March 22 at 11:20 p.m. According to the police report, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of unburned marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Upon searching Matiass vehicle, police recovered seven bundles of heroin in small wax paper-type envelopes in a pack of Newport cigarettes located in the pocket of a jacket on the front seat of the vehicle, police said. Police also recovered a plastic bag of marijuana in the same packet.
The police report said that Matias and his two passengers were handcuffed and brought to police headquarters where Matias gave voluntary statements that the heroin and marijuana that was recovered belonged to him. According to the police report, Matias said that he and his friends were coming back from the Bronx where they visited a friends aunt, where Matias purchased $200 worth of heroin. Both of the passengers in his car were let go with no charges against either of them. The police report said that Matias said he was trying to help himself by making a few bucks.
Matias is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree, a felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Oxycodone Arrest: Nicholas J. Fusco, 28, of Harrison, was arrested on March 20 at 9:04 p.m. at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Anderson Hill Road.
According to the police report, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle after it was pulled over. Upon searching the motor vehicle, the arresting officer found a wooden box containing an aluminum pipe with marijuana inside of it as well as a glass bottle containing marijuana. The arresting officer also found five 30-milligram oxycodone tabs on the drivers side floor board.
Fusco is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, a misdemeanor.
