Murphy Plans Talk To Westport/Weston Group On His Days In D.C.

WESTPORT, Conn. -- U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will the featured speaker for the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston at the April 2 meeting.

Murphy will speak at the Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, on what he has learned from his two-plus years in Washington, D.C., what he has accomplished and what his priorities are going forward.  

Coffee and doughnuts start at 9:45 a.m., with Murphy’s talk at 10:30 a.m.

A graduate of Williams College and UConn Law School in Hartford, Murphy served for eight years in the Connecticut General Assembly, four years in the House and four years in the Senate. He then was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, representing Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District, covering Danbury to Waterbury. 

In 2012, he defeated Republican Linda McMahon to be elected Connecticut’s junior senator in Washington.

Murphy serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Democratic Steering & Outreach Committee.
