Kyle Navin, the son of Jeffrey and Jeannette Navin, was to appear Tuesday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport before Judge William Garfinkel, the Courant said.
The arrest affidavit was sealed but may be released after his court appearance, the Courant said.
The Navins were reportedly last seen Aug. 4 by their son, who has been named a person of interest in their disappearance.
Jeanette Navin, 55, and her husband, Jeffrey Navin, 56, were reported missing to police on Friday, Aug. 7. A Dodge pickup truck belonging to the couple was found in a commuter parking lot off the Merritt Parkway in Westport two days later.
State Police took over the investigation from the Easton Police Department after traces of blood and a bullet were found in the pickup.
State police have reportedly searched the Bridgeport home of Kyle Navin.
Jeffrey Navin was reportedly $2.2 million in debt, though family members released a statement, saying that the couple's financial situation had nothing to do with their disappearance.
Jeannette and Jeffrey Navin, who recently moved from Weston to Easton, grew up in Westport and attended local schools. Kyle Navin is a graduate of Weston High School.
Jeffrey Navin is the president of J&J Refuse in Westport, which started operations in 1985, and Jeanette Navin is a school library aide at Weston Intermediate School. Kyle Navin also works at J&J Refuse as the operations manager.
State Police have searched landfills and transfer stations unsuccessfully for any signs of the remains of the missing couple.
