State Warns Of Unhealthy Ozone Levels, Issues Air Quality Alert For Wilton

NORTHERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The sun may be shining Friday, but the weather conditions aren't perfect in Northern Fairfield County, according to the state. 

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday because of high ozone levels, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. 

Ozone levels within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Such high levels can affect anyone. Especially sensitive groups include children, elderly people, people with respiratory diseases such as asthma and healthy adults who are very active outdoors.

The alert also covers northern New Haven County. 

The sunny weather is expected to continue Friday, with a high temperature near 79 degrees and a south wind of 6 to 8 mph. 

Areas of fog are predicted for after 2 a.m. with increasing clouds and a low of 55 degrees overnight.

For Saturday, fog will continue until about 8 a.m. The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 71 degrees.
