Sunday Liquor Sales Hold Steady in Weston

WESTON, Conn. – Have you purchased beer or liquor on Sunday yet? Sunday sales at Peter’s Sprit Shop on Weston Road peaked May 27, when traffic from the Memorial Day fair spiked business, according to store owner Larry Vavrek. They started May 20 after Gov. Dannel Mallor signed the bill making them legal.

His son, Jamie Vavrek, who works in the store on Sundays, said, “The first Sunday there was lots of curiosity, people were excited to come in. We were very busy the second Sunday, because the fair spiked beer sales. We were significantly less busy last Sunday, but still busy.”

The store is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Larry Vavrek said business last Saturday was soft, lower than Friday, indicating that sales may have been made on Sunday, spreading the business out.

“Consumers love Sunday sales from the convenience perspective,” he said. “Having Peter’s Market open boosts business and makes it valuable for me.”
