Weston Historical Society Hosting Talk On Dam, Saugatuck Reservoir

WESTON, Conn. -- As part of the focus on its Landmark Homes of Weston exhibit, the Weston Historical Society will host George S. Logan of the Aquarion Water Co. for a lecture on the plan, design and construction of the Samuel Senior Dam and the Saugatuck Reservoir.

The lecture will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the museum on the Coley Homestead, 104 Weston Road. The museum will be open from 1:30 to 4 p.m Sunday for visitors to view the Landmark Homes exhibit. 

Logan is director of environmental management and government relations for Aquarion. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree (1991) in engineering from Trinity College in Hartford and a Master of Science degree (1995) in mechanical engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He recently has taken on the role of director of environmental manager and government relations. 

Prior to this, he was responsible for leadership in all aspects of water utility engineering. In other previous roles with Aquarion, he was responsible for supervision of the company’s land survey, CAD drafting, design functions, and was in charge of purchasing. Aquarion is the public water supply company for more than 625,000 people in 50 cities and towns across Connecticut, as well as Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It is the largest investor-owned water utility in New England. 

The Landmark Homes of Weston exhibit will be on display through July 16. The exhibit will introduce visitors to the various architectural styles of residences to be found in Weston across four centuries, the people who created them, as well as some of the celebrities who have called Weston their home. 

A display of original architectural designs by Weston High School students, antique tools and building materials used in the construction of Weston homes also will be featured. The museum will be open from 1:30-4 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
