On Friday, the newest piece of sculpture was unveiled in a ceremony. "Konnected" is a welded metal piece by Weston-based artist Carole Eisner.
First Selectman Bill Brennan welcomed the addition of the sculpture to Wilton.
"I am so appreciative of having this piece of art in our town for a year," Brennan said. "We are trying to make the town a little better. This is part of our economic development in a way bring people into the town, make it more interesting, shop in Wilton, buy in Wilton, eat in Wilton, enjoy yourself in Wilton."
Eisner said she was excited to have her work on display in the town.
"It's very exciting. It's thrilling to have it here and be recognized in Wilton," Eisner said about the work that will be located on River Road across from Stop & Shop.
Eisner is an artist and sculptor who has an extensive portfolio of work that has been displayed in numerous public parks, corporate plazas, cultural centers and museums throughout the Northeast as well as in Belgium, France, United Kingdom and Japan.
Jeff Meuller, gallery director at Silvermine Arts Center, said displaying art where people can see it outside of a gallery or a museum is an important goal for the arts center.
"Silvermine really believes in that arts should be part of your daily life ... that you can engage with it in your morning walk or your evening moment of contemplation," he said.
In November, Peter Rubino, an internationally recognized sculptor, author and lecturer, donated an original sculpture piece to the town to get the ball rolling on the municipal sculpture program.
