Winter Weather Advisory Canceled For Northern Fairfield County

update: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The winter weather advisory for northern Fairfield County has been canceled Monday morning, the National Weather Service said. 

Rain is falling across the region Monday morning with temperatures in the mid- to upper 30s. The forecast calls for rain all day and temperatures in the 50s, the weather service said. 

original story: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With the forecast calling for wintry precipitation late Sunday and into Monday morning, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northern Fairfield County. 

The advisory goes into effect at 9 p.m. and continues until 10 a.m. Monday. 

The forecast calls for snow, sleet and freezing rain overnight. 

An accumulation of up to an inch of snow, along with a tenth of an inch of ice are possible by Monday morning, the weather service said. 

Temperatures will fall into the low 30s overnight. 

Slippery services on untreated walkways and roads could make travel hazardous. Driver are urged to exercise caution. 

In southern Fairfield County, overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 30s, with a 90 percent chance of overnight rain. 

Monday's weather is predicted to be rainy across all of Fairfield County later in the afternoon with temperatures in the 40s.
