Bodnar was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Szabolcs Megye, Hungary, and at the age of four he moved with his family to the United States, settling in Connecticut. A graduate of Bullard-Havens Technical School, he served in the U.S. Army in the Nike Corps division. He was married to Adrianne Siebald Bodnar. After marriage he resided in Easton for 35 years before moving to Redding. He and his wife founded Preferred Tool & Die, Inc., and he served as its president for 20 years before retiring at the age of 50. They also founded Rachel Realty, Inc. He donated to many charitable organizations, including the Easton Community Center and the Congregational Church of Easton.
Bodnar is survived by his daughters, Beverly (Greg) Rodiger of Wilton; and Cynthia (Jim) Tompkins of Litchfield; five grandchildren; several cousins; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Bodnar; in-laws, Edward and Ruth Siebald; and brother, Joseph (Barbara).
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. All other services will be private.
